Your wedding is no photoshoot. There’s no dress rehearsal or re-run. This is it. The single most exciting, special and significant day of your lives. I get it.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll want your wedding photos to tell the story of your day as it unfolds – not a package of set poses and forced smiles. You’ll want a wedding photographer who’s calm and confident – assured, not bossy. Fun, yet discreet. Someone with an eye for detail with the experience and intuition to anticipate and capture interactions and moments – the moments you see and won’t want to forget – and the moments no one sees – but wishes they had.
Wedding photography for me is about creating a visual memory of all the heart-bursting emotion, love, laughter, smiles, tears and embraces that weddings are all about. It’s as close to bottling the warm, fuzzy feelings of love and happiness, friendship and family as you’ll get. All your favourite people gathered in the same place, just for you, to help you celebrate your love for each other. Does it get any better than that? Not for me it doesn’t.
My style is relaxed documentary, which means that whilst I’m always looking for the best angle, and the best light, I capture events as they happen. No forced say-cheese-smiles or awkward grimaces, just plenty of natural, genuine memories of your special day.
There’ll be chance for some group shots (I recommend keeping these to a handful so that everyone can enjoy the day rather than waiting their turn in front of the camera), as well as some special couple shots. We’ll head away for a short while for some relaxed shots of the two of you as newlyweds – it’s the perfect way for us to get some shots of just the two of you, and for you to enjoy some quiet time together before heading back to your guests and the party.
Otherwise it’s just me recording all the fun and joy of your day as it unfolds.
My 2020 prices start from £1395 for coverage from your morning preparations right through to the first dance.
Take a look at the info below and call me on 07769 652145 or send me a note email@example.com if you’d like to chat. Please don’t be shy – you can’t beat a good chat about weddings!
A chat and a hello so that we can get to know each other – after all, if you choose me to capture your big day, we’ll be spending rather a lot of time together, so it’s best to do all the awkward hellos-and-how-are-yous before the main event.
It’s also a chance for you to tell me your story and all about your big day, as well as an opportunity for you to ask me as many questions as you like about me, my shooting style and package extras I can offer.
Tea? Coffee? We can do this in person if you’re within an hour’s travel of Hitchin, or by phone or video call if you live further afield.
Weekday engagement shoot
My 2020 packages include a complimentary weekday pre-wedding shoot. Aside from having some fun and creating some lovely images for you before your wedding, it’s a good way for us to get to know each other before your big day, and is the ideal opportunity to shake off any possible pre-wedding photo awkwardness or nerves. You’ll receive approximately 30 images via an online password protected gallery. If you’d like to upgrade this to a weekend shoot, the rate is £295.
Full day coverage
I’ll be with you from all the excitement, nerves and bubbles of your morning preparations to the first dance and into the party, up to a maximum of 10 hours. Additional coverage available.
What it’s all about of course. You’ll receive a password protected online gallery of (approximately 500+) professionally edited, high resolution digital images. These will be watermark-free, and you’ll have a full licence to download, print and share to your heart’s content with friends and family.
The online gallery also enables gallery visitors to view and purchase images and premium grade prints directly from the pro print lab I use.
I aim to deliver your full gallery within 4-6 weeks of the wedding. A sneak-peek mini gallery will be delivered within 10 days so you can share some of your favourite moments whilst you’re waiting for the full set of images to arrive in your inbox.
Of course, there’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all wedding, which is why you can tailor your package with me to meet your requirements. Additional options include:
Second shooter – ideal for capturing your partner’s preparation, extra candid moments and alternative angles in the ceremony venue or reception. I’m fairly fleet footed, and you’ll get images when you didn’t even know I was there, BUT I can’t be everywhere, so a second shooter will help capture additional moments that you wouldn’t otherwise get to see. £250.
Albums and artwork – premium grade prints can be ordered direct through your online gallery for delivery to your door, or choose to print images yourselves. I can arrange luxury heirloom photo albums, wall art and prints and thank you cards in a range of sizes and formats. We can chat about these options when we meet.
Travel – I’ll travel across the UK to shoot your wedding and if you’re within a 100 mile round trip of SG15 my travel expenses are included. If you’re further afield we can chat about travel costs and any potential modest overnight accommodation costs.
When my husband and I got married we knew that we wanted our photo album to tell the story of our day as honestly and as warmly as possible. Looking back, if we had to describe the photography ‘style’ we were looking for, it was ‘documentary with empathy’ – we wanted someone who would capture the events as they happened, but with a creative eye and an understanding of how we would want to remember the day.
We didn’t want to spend hours posing for images that wouldn’t feel natural – we just wanted to be able to relax and do our thing – and for our photographer to record it all as it happened.
This quick list highlights the things that were really important to us when booking our wedding photographer. We wanted her (or him – but it was actually a her) to be:
Friendly: Pretty important this one. After all, we were inviting a stranger into our most important and special of days. Hiring a happy, easy-going photographer that we knew we would get on with was vital.
Candid: I knew I was going to be busy. I knew that I wouldn’t get to see everything – but I didn’t want to miss out on my own big day – I wanted a photographer who would capture the things I knew I wouldn’t see. The silly moments and roaring laughter between friends, the big squeezy hugs of relatives meeting up – all the stuff that makes my friends and family who they are.
Tuned in: I wanted a photographer who could anticipate moments before they happened – and to get it on camera for us all to enjoy time and time again after the event.
Respectful: Not everyone wants a lens in their face all day long. I get it. I’m a good judge of personal space and I won’t be there as your shadow for every single minute of the day.
Genuine: I didn’t want photoshopped boobs, longer legs or a tummy tuck. BUT, I wanted to see the very best version of me. I’ve never been comfortable in front of the camera, and wanted a photographer who would know how to create images that I would cherish when I received them and in years to come.
I’ve taken all of this on board and this is the service you’ll get from me.
